| John Fawcett is a veterinarian who has been painting
professionally since 1992. He was selected to be in the Top 100 Arts for
the Parks Contest for two years in a row, 1996 and 1997. His first hand
knowledge of horses and dogs is evident in his detailed watercolors
which portray cowboys and the animals in their lives. “I want to make
the viewer smell the horse, hear the hoofbeats, have all their senses be
taken in by the painting.” 1996 was a year of transition for John who
shifted gears from a full time veterinarian/part-time artist to a full
time artist. He sold his veterinary practice of 17 years in Pennsylvania
and he and his wife, Elizabeth started construction of a log home and
studio in northern Colorado where they plan to live with their dogs and
quarter horses.
John’s work has been featured in Art of the West, Western Horseman
and the Equine Image magazines. He has received the Artist’s Choice
Award in 1996 at the Buffalo Bill Western Art Show. John’s work can be
seen in galleries in Arizona, Pennsylvania and Wyoming, including
Toh-Atin in Durango, Colorado. |
